This weekend I had TWO age mix-ups. They were both sort of humiliating, and hilarious, but that is how they tend to be.
Friday night at Tami's party, I got hit on by a 20 year old. Why would a 20 year old hit on an almost 26 year old, you might ask? Well, because he thought I was 19! Hence the humiliating.. then of course, once he found out how old I really was, he still hit on me... hence the hilarious!!!
Saturday I went out to LI for family time, but the trains were all messed up, there were no direct trains to or from Woodside, so I had to do the transfer-at-Jamaica- thing. Normally I don't mind, but when it's 20 degrees and late at night, I tend to not want to stand on a platform edge. So, I opted to take a cab from Jamaica to Woodside. There are no such things as yellow cabs out there, so I hesitantly took a "car service". Naturally, I got on the phone as soon as I got in the back seat, so there would be less chance of the guy taking me back to his shack in the woods, and chopping me up to bits.... first call was to my dad, who asked that I let him know that I got into a cab safely and what not. Then to my Donny, who graciously talked for me through the entire car ride. When we got to my place, and I went to pay the driver said "Are you old enough to take a cab honey? What are you... 16 years old?"... shocked, I said "no I'm 25, but thanks!" smiled, handed him the money and got out, happy to be in one piece.
So maybe one day I'll be happy to have this child-like face, but for now... I'll just console myself with the fact that serial killers probably don't go after teenagers anyway ;)
